Membership year / Renewals

The Membership year runs from January until December.

Any membership requested after January but before December will receive a pro-rated invoice.

There is no Contract to join.

The membership fee is subject to change each year.

The membership fee is not refundable upon membership termination.

Initial one-time application fee

An applying FSOF participant must pay an initial one-time application fee of US$ 12.00 before its membership is considered confirmed. This fee only applies to full, Agency, and school memberships, not to limited memberships.

New members

A new member is invoiced when the member is joining FSOF, for:

  • the initial one-time application fee, if applicable (only for full, Agency and school memberships)
  • the per month pro-rated amount of the annual fee.

Invoicing procedure

Invoices are sent per e-mail to the applicants via paypal.

Payments can be done by :

  • Credit card
  • E-Check
  • Paypal
  • Electronic bank transfer

All details on payment are specified on the invoices that are sent out, or available on request at membership@floridasecuriityofficers.org.

1. Types of Participation

There are four types of participants in FSOF:

  • Full Members
  • Limited Members.
  • Agency
  • School
  • Agency/School

The selection and responsibilities of each type of participant are described in this framework.


1.1 Full Members

An FSOF Full Member is an individual with a verified State of Florida "D" License. Every Full Membership comes with but is not limited to the following benefits:

  • Discounts at selected Training facilities.
  • A Monthly E-Magazine alerting to new Discounts.
  • Membership ID Card
  • Elegibility to vote in all ballots in the Full member section.
  • Username@floridasecurityofficers.org Email Address
  • Access to Full Members Only Forum Section.

 

1.2. Limited Members

Any Individual can participate by applying for the Limited membership without state license verification.
Benefits include:

2.1. Nomination Acceptance Procedures

New Full Members of FSOF must be verified by our staff regarding State licenses. New Limited members will not be verified through the staff.

2.1.1. Approval Rules

Any Full member applicant must pass a Staff Independent verification process validating  At the end the nominee must pay the initial membership fee upon approval for Full membership.

After approval by the Staff verification regarding Licenses and payment of the initial membership fee the applying participant's status is changed from "applying" to "confirmed"


2.1.2 Mandatory Information

A proposed new FSOF Full member must provide the following information in support of its nomination:

  • A valid State of Florida D License number.
  • A Scanned, Faxed, or Email copy of any Photo ID matching up to the name on the "D" License.

2.1.3. Application Process For Full, Agency, school and agency/ school Memberships.

To start the process of the membership application, the applying participant has to fill out  This starts a 2 week period which is the timeframe for the application to be successful. If the application isn't successful within that time, the process has to be started again and a One-time application fee will be in affect.

2.3 Voluntary Termination

A participant may voluntarily resign from FSOF at any time. The membership fee is not refundable if a participant resigns from FSOF. Staff will then change the status of the participant to "terminated". A "terminated" participant will have to reapply for Membership as explained in 2.1.3.


2.4 Suspension and Revocation

The Staff will initiate membership revocation steps if any of the following conditions apply:

  • participant's status is "pending" for more than 2 weeks.
  • noncompliance with this FSOF Framework and membership process
  • failure to contribute to the purposes and goals of FSOF
  • failure to pay the annual FSOF membership fee within the set time period for renewals
  • Noncompliance with FSOF Staff request.

When a revocation process is begun the participant's access to FSOF rights/benefits may be suspended. Revocation shall require a 2/3 vote of all members of the staff, with the exception of a "pending" participant, which membership MUST be terminated after 2 weeks.

The participant shall be provided an opportunity for rebuttal prior to revocation.

Lifting suspension and restoration of access to any membership shall require a 2/3 vote of all members of the Staff.

Participants who have their membership revoked or suspended for any reason are not entitled to a refund of their membership fee.
